Hey ladies, here’s a 24-hour timetable for skin care

Are you aware that your skin has a biological clock? Well, I kinda suspected but wasn’t too sure until I stumbled upon this commentary from the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. According to the commentary, the biological clock of our skin is under the influence of the central clock of our body. Although the role of this clock is currently unknown, I would like to think that it most likely regulates the behavior of our skin cells such as signaling them to protect against harmful radiation in the day and regenerating in the night. If this is true, then we might need to consider our skin care routines on a time basis.
Actually, how I came to discover this commentary was because I was trying to establish if it’s true that we should be doing certain things for our skin at certain hours – something I picked up while reading a Chinese book. Most of these books do not indicate a source and hence, it’s kinda hard to convince readers without sounding like some old wives’ tale. But given that there is now evidence that our skin has a biological clock, then some of what I’ve read do make some sense.
Here’s a timetable of what the book recommends in terms of a 24-hour skin care routine:
Between 6:00 and 8:00
Recommended time to wash our face as it’s important to cleanse off all impurities on the skin resulting from a night of skin regeneration. As this is the time when we accumulate more fluid in our body, so it’s also recommended to use products that can depuff the eye areas which are most susceptible to puffiness.
Between 8:00 and 10:00
A good time to drink sufficient water to balance the natural lipids of our skin when our skin cells are functionally optimally but the worst time to smoke as doing so can accelerate skin aging.
Between 11:00 and 12:00
Probably a time for some touch up because your nose area in particular, will probably look shiny with traces of oil. However, try to avoid using alcohol based products to touch up as that may cause skin sensitivity.
Between 13:00 and 16:00
Recommended time to take a 10-minute rest or nap as this stretch is when our skin may look tired and most prone to developing wrinkles.
Between 16:00 and 20:00
A good time to indulge in facials or facial massage to improve hydration level and skin condition to leverage on the improved blood circulation.
Between 20:00 and 23:00
Bad time to do too much to our skin as this is the time belt when our blood pressure dip and too much skin care activities might trigger sensitivity.
Between 23:00 and 5:00
Best time to sleep and rest as this is the peak hours for skin regeneration and the best time to absorb topical products. Apparently a good time to apply facial masks too.
So what do you think? Are these making any sense to you at all or do you think they’re unsound? Well, I think some of the recommendations do make sense but I’m not sure if they’re all feasible. In addition, the importance of applying sunscreen to protect our skin in the day is also not highlighted in this timetable. But I’m quite intrigued by the recommendation to indulge in facials during the late afternoon. I don’t go for facials anymore but if I do, I’ll remember to book my appointments during that recommended time. (~_^)

>>>The Right Way to Apply Foundation....

Prepare the face

The face should first be thoroughly washed with clean water and pat-dried with an absorbent towel. The face should then be moisturized using a preferred moisturizer so the skin won’t look dry and rough once the foundation is applied. A good quality moisturizer will prevent the foundation from looking uneven and clumpy, allowing for a smooth and natural look.

Add primer and concealer

Beauty experts usually apply foundation primer first to achieve a smoother surface, which the foundation can cling on once applied. The primer also helps the foundation to last longer without reapplying occasionally. After putting on the primer, you can then use the concealer to hide dark circles and uneven areas so as to avoid applying excessive foundation on those areas eventually.

Start applying the foundation

The amount of foundation to be applied depends on the lightness or darkness of shade that you want to have. Most women prefer the lighter shade as it produces a more natural look.
1. Using a foundation brush, begin to apply the makeup starting off on the center of the face in order to blend the makeup properly as you move towards the outside portion of the face.
2. Make sure to use wider, downward strokes when applying foundation on certain parts like the forehead, nose and chin to avoid getting uneven makeup lines.

Manage the hard-to-reach areas

The hard-to-reach areas for most makeup artists are the sides of the nose, the corners of the mouth, the eyes plus the hairline. These areas are commonly disregarded and are usually left untouched when applying makeup. It is also where the makeup usually wears off. In that case, one should make sure to properly cover these areas in order to avoid having that dreaded mask look.

Complete the look with powder

Most women are confused whether when to put the powder – before or after the foundation. Powder should always be applied ‘after the foundation’. This helps even out the foundation, minimizing the shine and also makes the foundation last longer. Powder also decreases the need to reapply and retouch makeup every now and then.
By learning the basic rules and principles in applying foundation, one can truly look great and fabulous without spending too much money, or hiring the best makeup artist or stylist in town. Having good quality makeup and tools also helps achieve a smooth and natural look. With lots of readily-available resources and useful tools, achieving that Hollywood-like glow can be easy and fun. Learn, experiment, embrace change and enjoy!

>>>Sweet honey lemon face scrub.....

Combine 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and the fresh squeezed juice from a quarter of a lemon. Honey’s natural antibacterial quality gives this nourishing and moisturizing scrub acne fighting properties, and my skin glows after doing this treatment.
Sweet honey lemon face scrub
This recipe yields about four uses for me. Apply about one quarter of the mixture by gently rubbing it on clean skin, and then leaving it in place for about 5 minutes before rinsing.
You can store the rest of the mixture for later use — just not more often than once every 3 or 4 days.

>>>Are you wearing the right bra?

According to experts, 70% of women are wearing the wrong size bra. When was the last time you went through your lingerie drawer to check if your bras fit properly? Maybe it's time to throw out the old and bring in the new and improved fitted bras.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a bra:

1. Is the bra stretched out or shabby looking?
2.Does the bra give you good coverage or do you spill out the bottom, top, or sides of the bra?
3. Does the underwire pinch or poke you?
4. Do your breasts hang low even when you have adjusted the straps to your liking?
5. Does it feel itchy or uncomfortable?
6. Does it look older or younger than your age?

If you answered "yes" to any of the questions, you should consider buying new bras and getting professionally fitted.

?????Out of ToPiC,no friend!Wakati mwingine unashangaa kwanini ngozi imebadirika ghafla?....MaWaZo.

Every night I re-visit my day and think through what happened. What I did right, and what I did wrong (or what I could have done better.) I feel like I have a full fledged therapy session with myself at night before bed. The point of this self therapy is to assess my failures and learn from, and work past those failures, and ultimately hopefully become a better person. My point is, failure happens to me on a daily basis. Whether, I said something to someone that I shouldn't have. Maybe I told a little white lie to make myself look better to someone, or maybe I had a moment of anger. It's human behavior, and we all do it.
1. Failure Happens To Everyone- Big or small, we all have failed in someway. I think the key is to realize it's not JUST you. We all mess up! The key is how you react when you do. Know that failure is inevitable, but your reaction to your failure is not. Make a choice to learn from failures, and not let them consume you with guilt.

2. Don't Be Consumed With Guilt- Did you lose your temper with your husband/wife, or your friend? Don't let your pride stand in the way of giving a sincere apology, and then moving on. If you've made a mistake, own up to it, and do your best not to make the same mistake again. Letting the guilt of the mistake consume you, will not make it any better. Do your best to fix it (if you can), and try to move forward.
3. If At First You Don't Succeed- Life is full of hits and misses. Quitting doesn't make the situation any better, because failure is inevitable no matter what stage you are at in life. Whether you are a stand- up comedian, a student, or a stay-at- home mommy, you just can't get it perfect every time. I always tell myself "okay, you messed up.. get up and try better next time." Once you learn to do this, you will always get back up and be stronger for it! ;0)
4. Talk With Friends- Talking with your friends about your day can really bring new perspective. It's nice to hear other peoples stories of failure, and how they deal with it. Have a support system, and be open about the things that you want to change and grow in yourself. I always ask my friends to keep me accountable (in a loving way of course) in the things I want to be better at.

5. Talk To God- You may not believe in God, but I always pray and ask God to give me wisdom. If I've failed, I ask His help for how I can do better next time.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Cream Wash and Pink Grapefruit Body Clear Body Wash

neutrogena-products-big.JPG
Stress is the root of all evil. Or maybe evil is the root of all stress... and acne.
At any rate, you can wash away evil, stress, and acne with Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power-Cream Wash. While "Power-Cream" doesn't sound very Zen to us, this face wash is disarmingly calming. With its blend of green tea and cucumber, it gently cooled and soothed our faces as well as our souls. It's even designed to treat acne before it emerges! Now that helps us find our chi.
And as for the Pink Grapefruit Body Clear Body Wash  - awesome! It works as intended to keep breakouts away, and smells deliciously like fresh (not overwhelming) grapefruit. Afterwards, your skin feels clean, not just dry
