#1 water, water, water. – Everyone knows the 8 glasses a day adage, but thanks to weird additives and faux-healthy flavored waters, it’s easy to get caught up and think you’re doing your skin more of a service than you actually are. Pure water is best, and mineral water is even better, according to this WebMD article. They recommend “at least half a gallon of good, clean water a day.” That’s doable, right?
#2 green tea – green tea is amazing for you inside and out. Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, it is used internally for everything from reducing the risk of cancer, to improving kidney and liver functions. It’s also used topically in so many beauty products, because of it’s potential in reducing UV light damage and inflammation. It’s like a beauty elixir, inside and out.
#3 Brazil nuts – Brazil nuts are seen as a superfood, because of their high selenium content. They’re being buzzed about for purportedly helping to prevent cancer, but they also are proven to improve memory and it’s known as adding rich internal moisture to dry skin.
#4 oatmeal – Oatmeal is great for you internally, where it can help to reduce cholesterol and is an excellent source of fiber and omega-3’s. Externally, oatmeal is amazing externally – as a scrub to soften your skin and it’s great for acne prone or dry, irritated skin.
